Getting by with a little Help

Hooray for cooler weather here in Atlanta! I know that it's not supposed to last and we're going to heat up just a little bit again before we actually enter fall, but the husband and I are most certainly enjoying the break in the heat!

Today, I've had the Beatles song "With a little help from my Friends" stuck in my head. . .

and really taking the time to think about how blessed I am to have such wonderful friends.  With C and I preparing to move we've been packing (big surprise, right)  and have stumbled upon so many memories of times together with friends as well as memories from before C and I were. . .well, C and I.  It's been interesting to say the least but I'm sure that C would appreciate me reminiscing another day and just packing for right now!

I will say however, that even with the wonderful people C and I have all around us, things still fall through the cracks, needs get overlooked, and people get their feelings hurt.  To this, my only thought would be that people can't read your mind and that sometimes you have to ask for what you need.  If I haven't spoken with you in a while and you're hurting then please reach out!  In a time in our lives where we don't see our friends as often as we all would like, I don't think it's fair to be rude or ugly to a friend just because they weren't aware of everything going on in your life!

Regardless, I'm thankful for my wonderful wonderful friends and am looking forward to having them all over once C and I get settled!

Everyone at Will's Weekend 2011 (post to come!)

For some reason Blogger (not me, never me!) is being dumb and not letting me upload anymore pictures. .
Hopefully I'll be able to come back later and add a couple more pictures of our wonderful friends!

House Hunting 101

Around the beginning of Summer, C and I decided that it was time to begin the process of finding our own home!  Let me just say that this has probably been one of the most exciting and stressful things that we've ever done, but it's all been worth it!  Now for a couple of things that we learned:

1. Location, location, location!  So much can be said about this topic, but I think the most important thing here is know where you do and do not want to live.  More so the areas that you would not want to live, and stay firm to this throughout looking for a house. C and I found at least two houses that we liked a lot, but the location was somewhere we had told our real estate agent that we did not like.  We never should have gone to those houses! Because what it boils down to is you can love the house, but if you hate where you live. . .is the home really that great?  We didn't think so.

2.  Speaking of Real Estate Agents,  find one that you trust!  Ours has been very helpful during the closing process, but that was about it.  We found both homes that we put offers in on...  Be clear with what you want, and don't be afraid to gently put your agent back on the right track.  It's not worth wasting your time and their's if you all aren't on the same page.

3.  Be sure you and your partner are on the same page!  C and I really took the time to sit down together and make a list of what we really would like and couldn't live without.  With this being our first home, we tried to stay realistic with our wants and needs, and I think we did a pretty good job of that.  We also tried to stay flexible within this list so that a truly great home wouldn't be cast aside because it didn't meet the list!

Once we found a home to put an offer in on, we were amazed at how fast the process goes!  However, the first home turned out not the be the home for us (i.e. we got outbid) but that was OK because with the market the way that it is it wasn't long before we found our home!  It goes to show you that sometimes things work out for a reason that that God's timing really is perfect because we couldn't imagine living in the first house now that we have ours!

We're closing (fingers crossed) September 14th and if all goes as planned I'll have pictures up just as soon as it's ours!
